This guide will walk you through the process of creating a project management and assessment sheet in Google Docs. By following these steps, you will have a customizable sheet where you can add team members, assign emails, and set or create their roles. This is great for tracking progress and ensuring clarity within your project team.
You don't need any advanced spreadsheet skills to get started—just follow the simple actions below using Google Docs. You'll be leveraging the Building Blocks feature for a quick and efficient setup.
Accessing Building Blocks in Google Docs
Begin by opening your Google Docs document where you would like to insert your project assessment sheet. Go to More in the menu. This option provides quick access to several templates and tools via the Building Blocks feature. Scroll down through the available options until you find Project Management. Select Project Assessments to insert the template into your document.
Setting Up the Project Assessment Sheet
You should now see the project assessment table inserted into your document. Click on a person's name to add their email address, or simply enter a regular name if an email is not needed.
Next, select the person’s role by clicking in the corresponding Role column.
Adding or Customizing Roles
If the desired role is not listed in the drop-down menu for roles, you can add a new one. Click the plus sign to open the option to add a new role. Type in the role you need. Click Save to add this new role to your list of available roles.
Finishing Up and Using the Sheet
Your custom role will now appear in the roles dropdown and can be selected for any person listed in your project assessment sheet. Continue filling out the assessment sheet by adding all relevant team members and assigning appropriate roles. The sheet can be used throughout your project to track progress, assign responsibilities, and make updates as needed. Whenever you add or change roles, they will continue to be available in the document for fast selection. That’s the basic setup! Your project assessment sheet is now ready for collaborative project management and tracking in Google Docs.
